Undressing Wrigley’s Big Red

It must have been about 12 years since I haven’t chew a Big Red… the packaging has been changed (no more mat red paper and the yellow flame on the i’s dot, replaced by a flaming head, little devil look alike in a fireball). Other change was the aspartame and Ace K (artificial sweeteners), instead of real sugar. But this unique and durable spicy cinnamon taste remains and I simply love it.

I should thank F. Nugeron for bringing me a full box back from Philadelphia today.

Big Red was introduced by Wrigley’s in 1976 but it never really made it outside the US (for a short time available in the UK and Ireland). It has always been a mystery to me, how come Big Red couldn’t flood other markets than the US, especially Asia where people have such a taste for spicy foods and drinks…
